SNOW and ICE

The high regions of the alps, above 3/ooo meters , are covered in snow and ice all year round .Glaciers move slowly down from the high peaks, and thier melting snow joins rainwater lower down to feed streams and reivers.

Large rivers, such as the RHINE , the RHONEand the PO(ancient padus), start in the alps.

Many of the passes between the high peaks are blocked with snow during the winter months . in the past this made travel over the alps difficult , but in recent times bridges have been built across vallys and tunnels have been dug through the mountaines.

ALPS:
The alps from a long chain of mountain ranges in south-central Europe they stretch in an arc for about 1/200 kilometers, all the way from the south of FRENCHto eastern AUSTRIA the mountains also extend into several other counteries , including ITALY/SWITZERLAND and GERMANY .
The highest alpine peak ,mount between French and Italy.
Some of the ranges that wake up the alps are wide,Measuring up to 250 kilometers from north to south.
Becaouse of this ,the wohle chain covers a large area of about240/000 square kilometers.
That is just a little less than the total area of the united kingdom.

ELBURZ MOUNTAINES
mountaine range ,nothern iran ,extending along the southern shore of the caspian sea .
the range marks the nothern limit of the iranian plateau the elburz have an average altitude of the about 1/520m (5/000ft) the highest peak in the system , Damavand , is 5/604m(18/386ft) above sea level.
ZAGROS MOUNTAINS
mountain system ,western iran, extending from thy Turky-Iran-Irag border in the north , SSE to near the strait of (hormuz) on the persian gulf.
Acopmlex of many parallel ranges separated by valleys and plains , the zagros mountains have numerous peaks higher than 3/050m(1/000ft),some of which have prepetual snow cover.
the highest peak is ZARD-KUH(4/548m& 14/921ft).
many of the vallys have fertile soils , and agriculture and livestock rasining are important to the region's economy.

It is located from 40 km to meshkin-shahr in north west of iran (Ardbil provance) .
There are four other peaks whit about 4400m hight from three main normal routes you can reach the summit.in two of them , at the hight of 4000m ,there are shelters .
there is a bueautful lake on the summit at 4811m.
